When Should You Send Out Your Wedding Invitations?

There are so many things to consider when you’re planning a wedding. With lots of suppliers to juggle and various dates to remember, it’s almost like a full time job in itself.

When you’re spinning so many plates, it’s easy to forget about your invitations. So I thought I’d put together a quick guide, just so you don’t end up in a pickle and leave it too late to send them.

As a general rule, I usually advise couples to send out their invitations 3-6 months before the wedding. If you’ve sent save the dates or are having a more local wedding, 3 months is plenty of time.

If you’re getting married overseas or haven’t sent any save the dates, you should definitely think about sending them earlier, as your guests will need plenty of time to book accommodation and flights etc…

If you’re planning on working with a stationer or printing company, make sure to take their lead times into account (my lead times range between 4-10 weeks depending on design). And if there’s a particular designer that’s caught your eye, make sure to get in touch as soon as possible, as we don’t always have immediate availability (particularly for bespoke design).

Of course, if you’re super organised there’s nothing stopping you from ordering your invitations sooner, especially if you’re not planning on sending save the dates but hopefully this can act as a bit of a guide to keep you on track during your planning journey!

If you’d like to work with me on your wedding invitations, feel free to get in touch.
