When it comes to planning your wedding, there are so many different dates for you to keep track of: dress/suit fittings, cake tastings and all of the other exciting consultations you might have. Then of course there are supplier payment deadlines that need to be kept on top of too.
With all of that to juggle, I thought I’d put together a handy guide for you when it comes to your wedding stationery timeline.
10-12 months before your wedding:
Send your save the dates
Although not a necessity, save the dates are a great way to start your exciting planning journey. If you’re a bit on the fence about whether you should send them or not, think about how many guests might need lots of notice to be able to attend (if they live far away etc..). They’re also great if you’ve booked a destination wedding.
Top tip: If you’ve booked your wedding less than 10 months in advance, you can probably just skip straight to ordering your invitations.
3-6 months before your wedding:
Order & send your invitations
This is when you’ll be wanting to give your guests those finer details (timings, locations etc…), so make sure you don’t leave it too late! A lot of stationers book up months in advance, so bear that in mind if you don’t have yours secured yet, they may not have availability straight away.
Top tip: Don’t forget to ask your venue when they’d like to know final numbers by and set your RSVP date around two weeks before that (to allow for any stragglers).
2 months before your wedding:
Book your day stationery
This is the time to start thinking about any items you may need for your day (menus, seating plan, place cards etc…). Even if you’ve not got all of your details in place yet, it’s still a good idea to book everything early to allow plenty of time for changes.
Up to 3 months after your wedding:
Send your thank you cards
Don’t forget to thank all of your guests for being there to celebrate with you and don’t forget your suppliers too! (We love a thank you card).
Hopefully that gives you a little bit of guidance, so you can start getting organised when it comes to your wedding paper! If you haven’t booked your stationer yet, you can see my new collections here.
